A Space to Grow: Adult Counselling in Leigh-on-sea

Individual, adult counselling in Leigh-on-sea and Southend helping you make sense of your feelings, navigate life’s challenges and find a clear way forward.

A Safe Place, Just for You

Taking the first step towards counselling can feel daunting and it’s completely natural to feel unsure about where to begin. You may be feeling overwhelmed by life’s pressures, caught in familiar patterns that no longer serve you or weighed down by sadness. Sometimes, what we need most is a confidential, compassionate space where we can speak openly and feel truly heard without fear of judgement. Whatever it is that’s brought you here, you don’t have to face it alone.

Here at The Listening House, I offer a calm, comfortable and private space where you can talk at your own pace. Together, we’ll gently explore your thoughts, feelings and experiences, helping you to gain a deeper understanding of yourself and discover a path forward that feels right for you. There is no pressure and no expectation to be anything other than yourself. This is a space where you can feel safe, accepted and genuinely listened to.

Support Tailored to Your Wellbeing

Easing the Pressure

We can slow things down to look at the root causes of stress, burnout and overwhelm, helping you find breathing space.

Navigating Change

Whether you are facing a career shift, a relationship breakdown or a major life transition, I can walk alongside you through the uncertainty.

Finding Your Worth

Together, we work to unpack self-doubt, challenge heavy self-criticism and build a stronger sense of personal value and self-acceptance.

Understanding Patterns

We explore recurring difficulties in your relationships or habits, giving you the insight needed to step away from old cycles.

A Thoughtful, Collaborative Approach

I work as an integrative counsellor, which means I do not use a rigid, one-size-fits-all model. Instead, I blend different therapeutic methods to match your individual needs, personality and circumstances. This collaborative process allows us to explore your past experiences, your current feelings and your patterns of behaviour in a way that feels most helpful for you.

Our work might involve looking at how your earlier relationships continue to influence your thoughts and responses in the present. At the same time, we focus on practical, everyday coping techniques. By using gentle grounding tools, we can manage difficult emotions with greater calm and stability. Rather than giving advice or telling you what to do, my role is to help you make sense of things in your own way and at your own pace.

Anxiety and Worry

Managing a constant sense of panic, physical tension or unease about the present and the future.

Low Mood

Working through feelings of heaviness, lack of motivation or feeling disconnected from life.

Loss and Bereavement

Processing the deep, painful stages of grief and learning to navigate life after a significant loss.

Searching for Meaning

Exploring bigger questions around your identity, life direction or a sense of purpose.

Areas We Can Explore Together

Life can present us with many different challenges, and no two experiences are ever the same. Whether you’re struggling with something that has happened recently or carrying difficulties that have been with you for much longer, counselling offers the opportunity to explore your thoughts and feelings in a safe, confidential and supportive environment.

These are some of the areas we can work through together.
