Providing a safe, compassionate space where you can simply be yourself
About Tracy Harvey, qualified Integrative Counsellor

A Little Bit About Me
After a long and successful career in banking and finance, a traumatic, life-changing event led me to seek personal therapy. At a time when the future felt heavy and uncertain and I couldn’t see a way forward, I discovered the power of being truly seen, heard and supported by someone who listened without judgement and held a space where I could simply be myself.
During that experience I discovered just how transformative connection, understanding and compassion can be and this inspired me to leave the financial world and retrain as a therapist.
I’m now a qualified and registered, integrative therapist running my own private practice, The Listening House, in Leigh-on-sea. In addition to this I’m a trained volunteer for the Cruse Bereavement helpline, supporting people struggling through various stages of grief. I have also worked within a local secondary school, supporting young people aged 11–18 who are experiencing a range of emotional and mental health challenges. I’ve also worked within several charities, supporting people from a variety of backgrounds through a broad range of life experiences and personal struggles.
Therapy Rooted in Compassion, Respect and Authenticity
I knew I wanted to offer that same support and understanding to others who were also navigating life’s challenges and I felt passionately about doing it. Today, I combine my experience of connecting with people professionally with the insight and empathy I gained from my own journey, guiding others toward healing, growth and self-discovery. This path that I found myself on, with all its twists and turns, is what has brought me to where I am today.
My ethos is rooted in compassion, respect and authenticity. I provide a space where you can speak openly and be met with understanding, helping you to build insight, resilience and a greater sense of self. I believe in ensuring you feel safe, heard and accepted just as you are. My role is not to direct or judge, but to support you in making sense of your experiences and discovering what feels right for you.

How I Can Help You
Taking the first step towards counselling is a significant decision and finding a therapist who feels like the right fit is essential. My goal is to help you navigate life’s challenges, whether you are dealing with a specific crisis or a general sense of being overwhelmed.
Relationships and life transitions can be complex and challenging. I will work with you to help you understand your personal patterns better, improve your communication with others and resolve the internal conflicts that may be causing distance or distress in your life.
You can reach out by email or phone to start the process. I aim to respond to all enquiries within 24 hours to arrange a brief, informal chat. This is a chance for you to ask any initial questions about how I work and for us to find a time that suits your schedule.
Our first full session is about understanding your story and exploring what has brought you here. We will discuss your hopes for therapy and decide together whether I am the right person to support you at this stage of your life.
I don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach to therapy. Instead, I draw on my experience to tailor our sessions to your individual needs. This may involve traditional talking therapy or where helpful, creative techniques that make it easier to express thoughts and feelings that are difficult to put into words. Together, we’ll find an approach that feels right for you.
